Travel | A Day In St.Moritz

Thursday, 17 September 2015

Whilst on holiday in Milan last year Iain and myself decided to book a day excursion to go over the border into Switzerland and make a visit to St.Moritz. We booked our Swiss Alps Bernina Express tour with Viator who I couldn't recommend enough, everything was organised brilliantly and our tour guide was brilliant (as well as his English)!

We set off around 7am and popped on the coach along to Tirano which is a small town in the foot hills of the Swiss Alps. We then had a couple of hours to have a look around, this was the only downside of the trip, there was absolutely nothing in the town! We ended up getting hot chocolates, oh how cliche', and people watching until we had to meet at the train station.

We then boarded the Bernina Express which takes you through the Bernina Express, which is now recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Site, up to St.Moritz. Known as 'the little red train' the express was built over 100 years ago climbing 7,330 foot.

When we arrived at St.Moritz the weather was a wet and dull but it still looked beautiful. We only had around 5 hours to have a mooch around so we just picked up something to eat, took in the scenery and of course bought lots of chocolate!
