Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser & Overnight Glow Serum

Thursday, 4 February 2016
Ever since I picked up the Pixi Glow Tonic a few months ago I've been itching to get my hands on some more products from Pixi! When I ran out of my Cleanse and Polish last week I thought I'd do a bit of research on Pixi's offerings for cleansers and see what I fancied.

As usual the cleanser is made up with 5% Glycolic acid, something that really agrees with my skin, working to exfoliate and reveal a new radiant skin tone. I've always suffered with a mild form of Rosacea and  severe Keratosis Pilaris (them annoying bumpy spots you get on your upper arms) on my face. For me I've found that exfoliating on a regular basis helps to keep these pesky little buggers from completely taking over but I've never managed to get rid of them fully.
Since I started using the glow tonic I noticed that it worked really well with the KP and was helping to improve it majorly, once I started using the cleanser and serum on top of it the improvement is dramatic.
The mud in the cleanser works hard to detox your pores with hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, and avocado oil claiming to plump and smoothen the skin. I've been loving using it as a second cleanser, due to the acid you shouldn't be using it around your eyes and to be honest I really couldn't see it being that good at taking makeup off anyways. When you first start applying it to the face it feels gritty and literally like you're rubbing dirt into your face, but then once you get going it turns into a balm and starts to warm up on the skin. Wash it off with a warm flannel and you're done, glowing skin shall ensue. I've also heard you can leave it on for a while in a mask like manner I'm yet to try this myself though....yet.
The overnight glow serum is basically like the glow tonic on steroids. Instead of the usual 5% Glycolic acid it's made up of 10%. It works to gently dissolve the bonds that bind dulling, dead cells to the skins surface - revealing the new healthy cells beneath. Enriched with cucumber and aloe-vera it leaves the skin feeling soft and glowy the day after.
The serum is really quite a thick, gloopy texture. I tend to use 3 drops before I apply my moisturiser of an evenings, I'm not going to lie to you when it dries it does look pretty scary almost like a wax figure, when I picked Iain up from work he looked horrified "what have you done to your face?" he squealed. By the morning when you wash it off your skin is really soft and you really are glowing!
I'm really impressed with my new picks and I'm already eying up the Glowation Day Dew and Glow Mud Mask
Have you got any recommendations what I should get next?

  5. This is such a great review, the way you've explained everything is so clear and in detail. I've been using the pixi glow tonic and love it, so am interested in trying these two, especially the serum. Although the price does put me off a little because I don't even know if they will work for me. I guess thats just the world of beauty haha xx
