Lets have a catchup...

January was a funny old month for me, I had both amazing highs and lows. As February is well underway now I finally feel settled and ready to crack on with the rest of the year, things for me are finally returning to 'normal'. I've missed sitting down and writing blog posts, I always found this time to myself relaxing and a way to de-stress, so this Saturday morning I'm taking some time to myself to sit down and type away.

In January the most amazing thing happened, I got offered my first Registered Nurse job for when I qualify in September and it's my dream job. It's official, I'm going to be an Intensive Care Nurse. I had the interview on Friday 13th and was convinced I wouldn't get it, I couldn't quite believe it when I got the phone call in the afternoon and they told me! I'm super excited but majorly nervous at the same time. I had a placement there last year and knew within a couple of weeks I'd found the place where I wanted to work. It's a little daunting going to work there as a newly qualified, with plenty to learn, but I know I'll be well supported.
Following on from getting my job I found out my dissertation results. I wrote a literature review on 'The Use of Subglottic Suctioning On Reducing The Incidence of Ventilator Associated Pneumonia', I got a 1st in this, 75%! I still can't quite believe it, just last night I looked on turn it in to make sure the mark was still there.
Sadly January went slightly downhill after this, I wont go into detail but we almost lost my grandma mid January. Amazingly she fought back and is now back home again, because of this my spare time has been spent visiting her, then settling her back at home and getting her back on her feet. Luckily I'm part of a large family and everyone's chipping in and doing their bit and things are going smoothly.
In February I'm trying to practice more self care. I totally burnt myself out last month and I feel like I need to take more time to focus on me. I've started practicing yoga daily, eating better and spending more time offline. I'm determined to dedicate more time to my blog also. It's hard with being on placement 40 hours a week then completing all the work that a degree entails, but I can do it. Normal blog posts shall resume from here on out.
